“WE ARE PERTH SUMMER LEAGUE”
The Perth Summer League is a local ice hockey club based out of Perth Ice Arena in Western Australia that was formed in 2010. Perth Summer League currently has 130+ players in its summer division.
The league was founded by two current players that wanted to create an affordable league that caters to all individuals and skill levels. Ice hockey in general is an expensive sport. Equipment costs can range from $900 to $3500 and association and club fees are required each year.
MISSION STATEMENT
To provide an inclusive, affordable, and high-quality ice hockey experience that fosters skill development, sportsmanship, and community engagement. We aim to make ice hockey accessible to all individuals, regardless of skill level, and to enhance the local ice hockey culture in Perth through innovative practices and a commitment to excellence both on and off the ice.
Perth Summer League created a playing opportunity across the summer months made up of more than double the amount of games than other clubs. This in turn created a more affordable playing experience. Taking this approach brought about an influx of players wanting to be part of something new and exciting.
The league began with just four teams and has expanded to eight. The league now runs a winter competition that has a further four teams.
Perth Summer League has seen a lot of changes over the past 11 years. It has added draft nights, family fun days, media presence, player safety department, professional jerseys, GoPro’s for referees and the latest in Live Stream AI technology for games.
As it enters its 12th season, Perth Summer League is looking to move to the next level as an amateur sporting club to widen its presence in the Perth Ice Hockey community and continue to provide a quality experience for players, fans, and all associated with the league.
